Jesus is Risen: The True Meaning of Easter

This is Cruz’s first Easter! As his mom I want to make Holidays as special as I can for him. I want him to have the memories and traditions I have, plus more. Easter has always been one of my favorite Holidays! As a child, Easter was a big fluffy white bunny with pink ears delivering easter eggs and gifts. A delicious brown sugar pineapple ham, church, and family time. My mom told me the meaning of the holiday each year, but it wasn’t until I grew older that I truly understood the meaning of Easter..Jesus.

Above all else, I hope to encourage Cruz to put Jesus first each Easter. Above the Easter Bunny, above the eggs, above the gifts and food. I hope as I dig deeper to understand Jesus, he will do the same. I would never push my child, or anyone into believing in something they don’t want to or are not ready for. My purpose is to lead by example, expressing my love and compassion, and need of understanding.

The meaning of Easter

Easter is a celebration of the resurrection of Jesus Christ! Jesus died on the cross for our sins so that we could be forgiven. Jesus claimed victory over death, and his resurrection symbolizes eternal life for all who believe in him! How amazing is this?!

I have to say, each year when Easter rolls around I find myself seeking Jesus more. It’s this feeling of desperation to be rejuvenated. And every year when I seek, I find.

Why pray in Jesus name?

Jesus tells us in John 14:6 “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the father except through me.”

John 14:12-14 “Very truly I tell you, all who have faith in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the father. And I will do anything you ask in my name, so that the father may be glorified in the son. You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it. “

Asking God for help, in Jesus name

This post has been the most difficult one for me to write yet. I’ve been waiting on God to give me the right words or some sort of direction. I am not always the most patient person. When I get an idea in my head I want to act on it immediately. I’ve been so excited to write this post, but every time I sat down to write I drew a blank. It’s been very challenging! So, I prayed for help from God in Jesus name.

After a few days of patiently waiting God finally gave me a message! I put Cruz to bed, lit all the candles in my room, got in bed, and opened my Bible. I had every intention on opening up to Luke to continue where I had left off the night before. But God had another plan..

A message from God this Easter

I opened my bible to an old sticky note on Psalm 139:9-10 “If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast.” I immediately felt Gods guidance, and from there I continued to go through my bible at random.

The next verse I came across was Isaiah 59:1 “Surely the arm of the LORD is not too short to save, nor his ear too dull to hear.”

God has created each and every one of us for a greater purpose! Sometimes I’ll feel bad, or upset with myself when I think I have fallen away from my purpose. I tend to think I have gone off course and wasted precious time. But I know God loves me and knows my ways better than I do. All the moments of our lives are important pieces, crafting us into the person we were made to be. God gives us a choice, he wants us to choose the direction of our lives. But ultimately we know, he hopes we’ll choose love. He wants us to help our neighbors, lift each other up, and be kind to all. This doesn’t seem so hard, right?

If you want direction from God, just ask ..

Every single day I ask God to light my path, open doors, shut doors, to guide me in the right direction. So that his will, will be my way. But when I am not putting the effort in to seek him or act as he/Jesus would I don’t get the signs I am looking for or the help I need. When I am in his word, praying, loving others, and practicing pure acts of kindness, I see his signs. I get direction and blessings left and right. It’s truly miraculous!

If we love one another as he loves us, and act with kindness and compassion towards all of his people, He says “I will give you direction, I will give you light, I will give you provision, and I promise that you will FLOURISH.”

My wish for you this Easter

My wish for all this Easter is that you will love and be loved. Feel kindness and give kindness. And know that Jesus died on the cross for you. You are loved, blessed, and forgiven.

Happy Easter. 🙂
