What Sparks Joy in Your Home

I believe it is important to keep the space in which you live filled with things that bring you joy and peace! Every day when I wake up I look forward to being in my home, I get excited to be surrounded by the things I chose to create my perfect space. Of course I love the people I share my home with above all else. But for this post I decided to choose 3 of the things, besides the people, in my home that bring me the most joy and fill my soul. Before moving on, stop and think..What sparks joy in your home?

Plants

I’ve slowly but surely become obsessed with plants! I currently have about 20 different plants throughout my home, these are 3 of my favorites. These are all easy care house plants- Aka, great plants for a busy mom! The plants I have chosen improve indoor air quality by absorbing airborne chemicals and breaking them down. They also absorb exhaled carbon dioxide and convert it to breathable oxygen! How cool is that? This sparks joy for me on so many levels..Having Cruz makes me want to have clean purified air for all of us to breath, so we can stay healthy and strong. Also, how beautiful are these plants?! I find they bring so much life and color to our home. We are working on names for them all and Cruz helps me take care of them..they’re our friends- lol.

Music

Just about every day when we wake up, Cruz and I head out to the kitchen, turn some music on, and start making breakfast. We dance, sing, and play along with our favorite songs throughout the day. It’s so fun to see the songs that get him excited and dancing, I love it. We do take time for peace and quiet as well, especially when we are outside because the sounds of nature are magical. But overall our home is filled with music! I’ve noticed music sparks joy for Cruz as well.

Choosing music has incredible benefits. Music improves your mood by helping to regulate emotions, creating happiness, and relaxation in every day life. It also improves memory, eases pain, lessens anxiety, and improves exercise. Between James, Kelly, and I we hit just about every genre of music throughout the week. The 3 albums I have shown above are some of our favorites! We simply ask Alexa to play a station based off whatever artist we are feeling in the moment and jam. 🙂

Candles

I can never have enough candles! Between the ambiance and the scents they fill a room with, I can’t help but feel complete ease when I am in their presence. My go to candles are tea lights. I have them scattered throughout my entire home to add little glimpses of sparkle at night. These tea lights are amazing and all natural. What’s great about tea lights is they are small and burn out on their own after a few hours. You can either buy some little glass votive holders or clean out the glass a candle was in, and pop one in there. This is my favorite way to recycle my expensive candles..I love Diptyque candles and their labels- black, white, and simple, so I always clean those out and use them to hold tea lights.

My new favorite candles are Alder & Loam, which I buy off of Etsy. They are hand poured, 100% natural, soy candles scented with essential oils. I have gone above and beyond to find affordable, all natural candles, that I throughly enjoy to fill my home with. I never cared about what my candles were made out of, as long as they smelled good. But again, since I brought my baby home I have been more concerned with air quality and removing toxins from my home. Believe it or not, many candles are filled with toxins and you shouldn’t be breathing that in.

Takeaway

I hope this post encourages you to bring light to your favorite aspects of your home. Everyone enjoys different things and has different ways. I figure by sharing mine, you may want to find yours and create more space for them to improve your quality of living. Life is pretty simple, find what makes you happy, find what you love, and create the space for it to fill you up each day!
